In 1861 a tall young man in Denmark named Hans Peterson was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He decided to come to the United States with other members of his faith. He crossed the plains and helped settle the town that would become Fillmore, Utah. He passed down his love of work, family, faith, and food. Peterson’s to this day continue to work hard, pray hard, and come together as family in revered reverence of eating pie. Through the years, I have noticed the kind of pie preferred by a person pertains to personality traits. I jokingly started a pie personality test, and with the encouragement of students and friends through the years have continued to build it. Pie is comforting, traditional, and if you’ve been invited to eat pie with a Peterson, you’re family forever.
